It’s been a while since my last “real” post. So what have I been doing?

Well, first off, I have passed my 70-536 exam, which is great. Next I need to take the ASP.NET 3.5 (think it’s 70-562) and then I’m a MCTS (Microsoft Certified Technical Specialist) – sound fancy :P

The reason why I actually managed to get finished now were be cause of MIX09. A week before MIX09, I desided that I couldn’t look at Silverlight stuff, specieally not all the new stuff I were guessing would show up at MIX09, before I passed this exam. So, I studied like a mad man for a week and passed the exam. Sweet!

So, now I can finally start looking at Silverlight again and also some of the new Silverlight 3 stuff from MIX09. :)

Game related videos from MIX09
The videos I link to here isn’t 100 % game related, but they include context that is very good to know if you are creating games in Silverlight 2 and 3.

Seema Ramchandani had this great session about the graphic pipeline in Silverlight 3. She did a similar talk at PDC about Silverlight 2 and it were a great talk too. She talks about GPU rendering, the general rendering loop in Silverlight etc. These are things that are wise to keep in mind when doing Silverlight games so you get the best performance out off Silverlight as possible.

Jeff Paries had this session about the principles of animations in Silverlight. This session is very relevant for game developers as we usually have a lot of animations. He talks about different ways do to animations, Storyboard, Tick based, Sprite animations etc. It’s a really good talk.

There are alot of other good videoes at MIX09, but these are the two most game related I have seen. I hope there are more, but I haven’t had time to see all of them yet, so an update to this post may come in the future.

Silverlight game prototyping
I am currently doing some prototyping (in Silverlight 2 for now) for a new Silverlight game that I want to create. It’s pretty complex and I havent seen many, actually I have only seen on of these games made in Silverlight so far. I don’t want to say more about the game at this point as it may turns out that it’s too complex to create and therefore may stall. Another reason is, that if I’m doing to create it, I don’t want other people to create a similar game before me :)

To be continued… ;)

– Enjoy!
